Medicine
Born in Braga in 1992, at 17 years-old I went on to attend Medical School at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, having graduated in 2016. In 2017 I moved to our capital, Lisbon, Portugal, where I’m doing my fellowship in neuroradiology at Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Ocidental.
Research Science
Research appeared early in my life as I joined a research group at ICNAS in Coimbra, Portugal, while a medical student. I mainly participated in projects regarding brain imaging (anatomical and functional) for about 3 years, one of which led to what would be my master's thesis and my first paper. I am now taking my first steps at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown.
Data Science
Given our era of Big Data and its current and future impact in Health, I decided to learn data science in the beginning of 2017, as I believe it is (and will continue to be) extremely beneficial for decision-making in research and, consequently, in clinical practice. I mainly work with R but I’m also dabbling with Python.
